YAMAHA - TX-116 Midi Rack
Made in Japan Yamaha TX116 modular FM synthesizer rack, loaded with five TF1 tone generator modules. Introduced in the mid-1980s, the TX116 was Yamaha's expandable version of the TX816 system, originally supplied with a single TF1 and capable of accommodating up to eight.
Each TF1 is essentially a keyboardless DX7-class synthesis engine, providing 16-note polyphony, 6-operator FM synthesis and 32 algorithms. With five modules installed, the system provides five independently controllable FM engines, each with its own MIDI input and balanced XLR audio output, as well as control via the rack's common MIDI interface.
