As blurbed by TapeOp.com;
Focal markets the SM9 as two monitors in one, due to the fact that in its default state, it's an active 3-way speaker, with a 400 W amp for the forward-facing 8 inch subwoofer, and one 100 W amp each for the 6.5 inch woofer and 1'inch tweeter.
With a push of the (vaguely-named) Focus switch, the amp for the subwoofer is turned off and the crossover is altered, so the frequency response changes from 30 Hz — 40 kHz to 90 Hz — 20 kHz (both ±3 dB). Focal claims in its literature that this is to check how the mix will sound on your TV or multimedia systems.
The TapeOp review goes on to comment it is unlikely that any TV or Multimedia system could sound as good as the SM9, but that it is a useful feature all the same.
An additional 11 inch passive radiator on the upper surface, which gives it a definitive look and also happens to preclude stacking a second speaker on top of it.
Both Speakers are in full working order, with only superficial markings on the cabinetry. They are however extremely heavy (34kg each) and necessitate an equally sturdy stand to ensure their(s) (and your!) safety.
In addition, the nature of the bespoke Beryllium Tweeters means that they are extremely magnetic in the forward facing field, so particular care should be taken when moving them so that no ferrous material gets sucked into the tweeter dome. (Imagine that you are heavily pierced and need to walk by an active MRI machine - be careful!).

The MQ-360 is a Class A vacuum tube power amplifier producing lush, warm valve tones with stunning clarity and power. 40 Watts a side at 8 ohms. Manufactured around 1985. This amplifier is in excellent condition throughout, with only a few minor exterior marks and scratches, and minor oxidation of some exterior finishes. It complies exactly with the published schematic. All DC voltages comply with those listed on the schematic. It is in faultless operational condition. Fully refurbished. All electrolytic capacitors have been replaced with EPCOS, Vishay and Nichicon capacitors. The coupling capacitors have been replaced with WIMA MKP10s. All tubes have been replaced. Tube set Svetlana 6550 (4); 6CG7(2); 12AU7(2). 100V unit, requires step down transformer.
