Charvel / Jackson - Model 6

Charvels top of the range model for 1987. Made in Japan - 24 fret maple neck through with poplar body wings and rosewood fretboard. Originally available in HSS and the much rarer HH version, this guitar has been rebuilt from the ground up to be as close to the HH version as is practically possible while updating obsolete parts with easy to obtain and reliable modern equivalents.
The guitar's inherent weaknesses of 3 on/off switches for the pickups and the horrible neck dive when standing up to play have been remedied. Online stats on these guitars frequently quote this as a compound radius guitar, but that did not exist in 1987. The BRIDGE was originally a 16 inch radius while the fretboard is a 12 inch radius.
The bridge has been shimmed to match the 12 inch radius. The original Jackson tuners have been reshimmed and lubed and work like new. The fretboard has been levelled and radiused, the fretboard edges have been rolled and a refret with premium JESCAR fretwire the same size as comes standard in ESP guitars. (0.2mm narrower but same height as the original wire.) JESCAR comes in premium guitars such as SUHRs and is harder and longer lasting than standard nickel fretwire. The Jackson JS-50 neck pickup is standard spec (9.2k Ohm) from the HH version and works as a passive pickup and after trying three other bridge pickups (SD JB, Dimarzio Dist, EMG 81) the Seymour Duncan Dimebucker was a hands down winner for this guitars tonal qualities. Each humbucker has its own volume and tone controls. The bridge has been adapted to accept a standard Floyd Rose arm (included) and the 3 on/off switches are now a standard 5 way Strat switch. Set up with 9-42 strings in E standard tuning with very low action and very little neck relief this puppy is built for speed.
Fully set up and ready to play it also comes with a hiscox style hard case.
