The SPD-8 is a Pad Controller that is equipped with its own internal sound source. Moreover, it allows you to trigger other external MIDI devices as well. In addition, you can conveniently input an audio signal, such as from a tape recorder, so you hear what you play on the pads, mixed with the incoming signal. This allows you to create ensemble -like performances.
