Ibanez - RG1522-05 Prestige

The Ibanez RG1522-05 is a Japanese-built Prestige model produced at the Fujigen factory in 2004. The RG1522 was part of Ibanez’s early-2000s Prestige lineup and is a hardtail RG, distinct from the tremolo-equipped RG1550/1570 models of the same era.

It is fitted with Ibanez’s Wizard Prestige 5-piece maple neck, bolt-on with the AANJ heel for excellent upper-fret access. The rosewood fingerboard carries jumbo frets and a 25.5 inch scale length.

Hardware consists of a fixed hardtail bridge and Gotoh tuners. Electronics are laid out with a simple 1 volume, 1 tone, and 5-way selector.

Pickup configuration includes the original Ibanez V7 in the neck position, with the bridge pickup upgraded to a DiMarzio Tone Zone (DP155). The Tone Zone is a popular aftermarket choice, offering higher output, strong mids, and a thicker lead tone compared to the stock Ibanez V8 it originally shipped with.

Overall, the RG1522-05 is a stripped-back Prestige RG that prioritises playability, reliability, and tone. A great example of early-2000s Japanese Ibanez quality.
