Maestro / Oberheim - PS-1A Phase Shifter
Vintage 1970’s Made in USA - Maestro PS-1A Phase Shifter.
Designed by Tom Oberheim for Gibson/Maestro.
Unique SIX Stage (rather than four stage) Analog Phaser circuit intended to emulate the sound of a Leslie Rotary Speaker (much like a Uni-Vibe).
3 Rocker Switches Control the speed with, Off/Slow, Slow/Medium and Medium/Fast.
Can be activated by standard foot control or mounted to a mic stand (via inbuilt thread on underpanel) and controlled by hand.
The standout unique feature is the ramped change of speed when switching modes (mimics a rotary speaker gaining or losing speed).
Most famously known as the phaser used by John Paul Jones with the Fender Rhodes piano for live performances of ‘No Quarter’.
*Original 240 Volt Circuit* In full working order, however it seems likely that replacing the electrolytic capacitors in the circuit would improve the overall sound. Currently the phasing cycle is closer to a square wave than a smooth sine wave.
